Picture Day

May 4, 2008 at 12:05 pm (Uncategorized)

Yesterday was picture day for Dade. We took him to Portrait Innovations to have them taken. We also had a family picture taken as well. I’ve uploaded the pictures to my Web Gallery. We got all 68 images on a CD for us to keep and take back for reprints whenever we need to. Here are a few of my favorites.

That’s right we took the bear suit in to have pictures taken in it.  We made the photographers day!

Poor Baby

April 28, 2008 at 8:45 pm (Baby)

First off, so I don’t forget. I’m updated Dade’s growth stats.

Now to the post. . .

Dade went in for his 2 month check up this afternoon. I felt bad for Clint because he was going to have to take him by himself, and Dade was going to be getting his first round of shots. Clint said that the appointment went well, and the doctor said that Dade looked really good. He’s been getting a rash on his tummy, so I had Clint tell the doctor about it. She said it’s called a “Clogged Pore Rash”, and there’s really nothing we can do about it. If it gets dry and flaky, then we can put some lotion on it.

I stopped by Hy-Vee and bought some Infant’s Tylenol for Dade to take. He must have screamed for 20 minutes or so this evening shortly after I got home. He was wet through his clothes so I changed him and put him in his sleeper. I took the band-aids off his little legs. It must have aggravated the area where he got the shots because he was really upset. I know now that there’s nothing worse then the cry of your child when they don’t feel good. I gave him his bottle an hour early to help him relax and get some sleep. Clint said that he didn’t sleep a lot this afternoon.

I think he fell alseep sometime around 7 or so. It’s 8:30 now, so he’s been out for about an hour and a half. I think he’ll wake up by midnight and want a bottle and then go back to sleep.

I uploaded a new album to my Web Gallery. It’s the date 2.24.08. Amy found some new settings on our digital camera, and had a blast! There’s lots and I mean lots of pictures of me and Dadey, plus Clint and Dadey, and Clint’s visit to IHOP with Chris, Aaron, and Amy.

Clint officially started his workout routine today. He wanted to start training for the Park Ranger physical test. For those of you who didn’t know, Clint’s thinking about becoming a Park Ranger. He’s pretty much got everything that he needs to me a Park Ranger, with the exception of a few college hours in behavioral sciences. He did sit-ups, push-ups, and starting running. Makes me want to get my big butt over to curves. 3 Days a week for 30 minutes. I can do it!!!

My boys in my classroom are fight crazy. Not sure why. I talked to my mentor about it, and she gave me some really good ideas. First things first is a class meeting tomorrow at the end of the day. We are going to find out what the problem is exactly, and see if we can brainstorm how to fix it as a class. I really want to take all of them to the Zoo on the 27th of May, so we shall see.

I informed the students today of Saturday school this Saturday. Man they were upset. HELLO!!! Do you really think that teachers want to come in on a Saturday and teach as well. I don’t think so. Oh well though. I’ll be interested to see how many actually come in. I’ve got some fun stuff planned for those that do.

I’m beat. Going to turn in for now. It’s Clint’s night to take care of Dade, but he’s got to run up to Amy’s for a bit so I’m on duty until he gets back. Tomorrow night is my night. We decided to switch off nights, so at least one of us gets a good nights sleep. With the exception of Saturday and Sunday nights. I agreed to take every Saturday night so Clint can be rested for church, and he takes every Sunday nights so I can be rested for school on Monday. Some weeks we’ll have two nights in a row (like this week), but it all works out in the end.

Here’s some of my new favorite pictures of Dade

Back to Work

April 21, 2008 at 8:24 pm (Uncategorized)

It’s official! I’m back to work.  It was hard to leave the house this morning, but I did it!  I called twice to check up on the boys, and then when I was on my way home.  I even managed to get dinner cooked and ready within an hour of me coming home.  Cleaned out the fridge, cleaned the kitchen, and the living room tonight too!

I’ve got a terrible sinus headache, so does Clint.  Dade is playing under his jungle gym about to fall asleep.  He’s eating 6 ounces every 4 hours now. At least he’s going longer in between feedings.

Time to chill out on the couch with Dade.

Romantic Weekend 101

April 19, 2008 at 4:28 pm (Uncategorized)

When one is planning a romantic weekend there are several things that you must check off your list.

1. If you have a child, find someone that will watch said child for the entire weekend. Done. My parents were so gracious to watch our little one for the entire weekend. We shall pick him up tomorrow afternoon.

2. Find some place that is close, but romantic at the same time. Done. Chateau Avalon.

3. Plan for an extra surprise for the room, if the hotel allows it. Done did an extra add on, plus a couples massage.

4. Forget everything that has been bothering you leading up to your romantic weekend because after all this is to bring back the love, and stress free life. Done and Done. Man am I feeling super awesome!

Like my cute little rose. So Clint and I had our romantic get-away last night. True we didn’t go far away, but man did we have a good time. I took pictures to document the weekend. So without further ado, here’s my pics, with some explaining when necessary.

So this is the Chateau Avalon. Amazing little jewel if I do say so myself. We stayed in the New York Penthouse style room. They have everything from that room to Roman Dynasty and everything in between. Here’s some pictures of our room.

If you couldn’t tell, our room was a two floor loft. The bed and TV were upstairs in the loft area, whereas everything else was down below. Clint’s favorite part (besides spending time with me =P) The bath tub. Go figure right. After getting everything settled, we left for dinner.

STOP THE PRESSES!!! NEW HEADLINE!!!!! CASSIE KRAUSE WAS SEEN WEARING A DRESS!!!! HaHa right. It was our romantic weekend. Of course I was going to look super hot!!! Thanks Amy for helping me pick out this killer dress. Clint LOVED it.

That cake that we ate was the “Little” Chocolate cake meant for one person. There was NO WAY that one person could eat that whole thing plus their meal. We later poured on the Whiskey Butter Cream Sauce. Which made it SO GOOD. Not that it wasn’t before hand! We recommend Granite City as a place to go. Expensive, but so worth it.

After dinner we went to a book store to kill some time before our couples massage. That was amazing in it’s self. I had another surprise for Clint when we got back from that though. Silly me, forgot to take pictures of the tub area, but refer to previous tub picture but this time picture flameless candles surrounding it, chilled champagne, and gigantic chocolate covered strawberries. AMAZING. Oh yeah, and here’s what had been done to the bed.

Slightly corny (some might think), but romantic none-the-less and that’s what I was going for.

Clint and I are both feeling amazing, relaxed, and recharged. We miss Dade something crazy. It was weird seeing families with their children, and not having my own.

Back to work Monday. Going in feeling great!

My Week

April 17, 2008 at 11:16 pm (Uncategorized)

So, I was able to get my dinner finished Sunday, regardless of how Dade was attempting to prevent that.  My green beans turned out yummy.  Our friends, Chris and Tina, have a 2 year old who doesn’t like green beans. But for some reason he liked mine.  Maybe it was all that bacon grease that I used for flavoring.  Who knows.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and today I went to the school to work for a few hours.  Seeing as it’s spring break, no one was at the school except the front office staff.  Tuesday I cleaned and rearranged my room.  Wednesday I finished that up, and did my lesson plans.  I started making copies.  That was until the copier decided to own my copies and stop working.  I faked it out though.  I turned it off, let it chill for 20 minutes or so, then turned it back on.  Worked for 15 minutes, then owned my face again.  At that point I was tired of messing with it for that day.  Copier  2 points, Cassie 1. Today I went in to finish up.  Not only was I able to finish making my copies for the week, I was also able to make copies of my transparencies.  Final score. Copier 2 points, Cassie 5! Screw you copier I won! HAHAHA

Funny story, I went to Wal-mart to find transparencies. Went to the section where the photo paper is, t-shirt iron-ons ect. . .  Couldn’t find them, so I asked someone.  Here’s how the conversation went.

“Excuse me.  Can you tell me where I can find overhead transparencies.”

“What are overheard transparencies?”

Insert dumb-founded look on my face. “Um. . . you know when you were in school the teacher would roll this cart like thing to the front of the classroom and project light onto the board?”

“Yep”

“Well, the teacher would put this plastic sheets on the overhead projector.  Those are overhead transparencies.”

“Oh. No I don’t know where they are hold on.” Guy leaves to find someone who knows where I can find them. New employee comes up, goes to where I was looking and concludes that they “fazed” them out.  Thank you Wal-mart for hiring dumb people.  Everyone needs a job I guess.

We found out on Monday that some of our friends that got married last month were going to be parents.  Excitement over came me.  More friends having babies makes me happy.  But I received a sad phone call today that she miscarried. It doesn’t matter how far along someone is.  Miscarriages are sad news.  I looked at Dade when I got off the phone and thought what if that had happened to me.  I wouldn’t have my Dadey Baby.

Every Thursday night Clint goes to Grandview to play in a Warhammer game.  The guys he played with sent him an email saying that they were meeting early to have pizza at CiCi’s and that he was welcome to come.  So Clint left early. He also got home earlier than normal.  It’s a little after 11 now and he has been home for about 15 minutes.  Anyways, he walks in and says:

“I got bad news”

First thought, he messed up my car. “What?”

“I got two tickets.”

“What? Two tickets.  Speeding and what else?”

“Invalid insurance”

Now how crazy is it that he gets a ticket for invalid insurance when his mother is our insurance agent.  It had to have just expired.  At least we can contest the second ticket. Going to plead guilty on the speeding charge. Yeah for higher insurance! It just went down after his wreck in 2005.

I watched the movie Juno and Alvin and The Chipmunks yesterday. Both movies are now on my “Purchase Me List”

Currently watching Ghost Hunters Season 3 Part 2. Seems to fit.  Stormy outside. Watching in the dark is fun.  Dade is asleep in his crib.  We’ll see how long that lasts since it’s starting to storm again. Stupid thunder wakes him up every time.  Plus Slinky is crying because of the storm.

I don’t know what’s worse a crying baby or crying/wailing dog.  Get them going at the same time, you’ve got yourself a party.

[Insert sarcastic look]

Sunday Lunch

April 13, 2008 at 12:57 pm (Baby, Family)

Some friends of ours are coming over for lunch this afternoon.  I’ve got green beans simmering on the stove (fresh and first time I’ve ever tried cooking them), new potatoes ready to go in the oven to roast (they are coated in olive oil, garlic, rosemary, and oregano), double sin chocolate cake cooling on the counter, and a lettuce salad ready to be placed in a salad bowl.  It has literally taken me  all morning to get these things done.  I’m not used to cooking a meal like this (and I’m not even doing the main dish ) and having a baby around.

Dade has decided that this is the morning that he doesn’t want to be in his swing, vibrating chair, play gym, boppy pillow, or tummy mat.  All he wants is to be with his momma.  I finally just put him in his swing after his noon bottle and let him cry himself to sleep because I didn’t have my potatoes ready to go.  It was hard letting him cry in the swing, but he finally went to sleep a few minutes ago.  He’d been awake since 7:30.

I’m also trying to do laundry amongst the cooking. And my sinus headache is back in full force and his relentless. I’m looking forward to Clint getting back from Sedalia so that I can go get in the shower before our friends get here at 1:30.  Knowing how my day as gone so far, this will be the day that Clint doesn’t get back until 1:30.

4 Outfits 1 Day

April 10, 2008 at 9:33 pm (Baby, Family)

Dade went through 4 outfits today before turning in. His pooping force was so great today that he was blowing through diaper after diaper. It’s pretty bad when you can hear him fart/poop from across the room. One was so loud that it woke him up from his nap in the swing. That was the one that went through not one but two layers of clothes and onto the head rest thing in his swing.

Clint hung the paintings in the nursery today. Check them out!

I call this Slinky Love!

Worst One Yet

April 10, 2008 at 3:34 am (Baby)

It’s 4:30am, and it’s the first time Dade has waken up tonight.  He went down somewhere between 9:30 and 9:45.  I’d say that was a pretty good run.  But that’s not the purpose of this post.  Clint is currently rocking him back to sleep.  If you’re asking yourself, why are both of you up, well it’s was due to Clint needing back-up on a diaper change. (I don’t mind giving him back-up on poop filled diapers. He’s still learning) Usually diapers don’t bother me.  I worked at a daycare during college, so smelling baby poop doesn’t phase me.

That was until a few minutes ago.  I actually had to take a step back from Dade BEFORE I even had the diaper off.  The smell was AWFUL! I had Clint get the wal-mart bag ready (Diaper Genie is full).  Clint walked past Dade and had to go to the other side of the nursery to regain composure. I even cracked a window to get the smell out.

The funny thing, there was hardly any poop in the diaper.  I was expecting this huge amount of poop that was going to take the whole wipe warmer to clean up. Nope three wipes and we had a clean bottom.  We took Dade out of the room so I could spray some air freshener.  After all he’s going to go back to sleep in his crib.

I will not miss formula poop when we start to eat other foods!

MySpace PlayList

April 8, 2008 at 7:35 pm (Uncategorized)

I’m a proud myspacer!

I created my ultimate playlist. I love it.  Has some of my favorite songs on it.

Love it! Embrace it! Dance to it!

I’m sure that if someone walked by my house a few minutes ago, I would have been seen dancing through the window!
