Being poor and not having the money to invest in professional books at the moment, the library is once again my best friend. As well as reading these books, I’m working on my strategy notebook. So far its going well, I worked on it for a little while tonight. As I am reading through these books, ideas I like are getting marked with post-it-notes and being copyied into my idea notebook or strategy file, which ever it fits better.

Although we are broke, there’s one book I had Clint order from Hastings, only because I LOVED the entire book, and i don’t want to copy the whole thing. That book is #10 on my list, as well as my current favorite out of the group.

I’m reading # 8, because I was asked about it during one of my interviews. When they mention a book I haven’t read, I try and get it and read it so if I’m asking again, I’m ready.

On a side note I took a break half-way through my post to take a walk with my mom. She brought me some milk since we are out, and she was upset about Grandpa. So we took Slinky on a walk around the block. Slinnky met Rambo, another miniuture daschund in the neighborhood. He’s only 10 weeks old. Here’s the best part of my day. He didn’t cry when we was with Rambo. They actually played a bit. It was cute.

I can hear my 5:45 alarm for work already, time to turn in and get some sleep.

Trash Day June 22, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — cassiekrause @ 12:08 pm

Yesterday started as a good day, I got off work an hour early compared to my usually 1230 finish I had an 1130 finish. Grabbed my cell-phone and low and behold I had two new voice mails. And Like 4 missed calls. Upon looking at the missed calls they were from my grandma’s cell phone, and my mothers. When this combination of missed calls comes up on my cell phone that means that something has happened. I was right.

My first voice mail was from my mother, crying her eyes out. My grandfather had fallen in the garage at his house and they had to call 911, because there was blood everywhere. And I was to call her as soon as I got the message. Next message was from her again saying that they (her and grandpa) where at the ER, and he had no broken bones just lots of swelling and bruises. And that he would be released shortly to go home. Second message brought a relief to me, however, Grandpa falling, never a good thing. I think I made it to Warrensburg in record time after leaving Lee’s Summit. I didn’t even care as I drove through Lone Jack. I didn’t slow down, must have been a lucky day.

I had to go to mom’s office first to get some money for some Hydrogen peroxide so that I could clean up the mess in the garage, by mess I mean blood. Mom said that the ER people wrapped his right arm up in gauze and whatnot, and that I would have to clean it for him later. Which was fine. I’m used to having to clean wounds for them. With dad out of town, I have no other choice.

Went I got to grandma and grandpa’s house, he was still in his bloody shirt from when he fell. I took him to his bedroom and helped him change into a clean shirt. Mom was right he was all bruised and swollen. His left elbow has a knot the size of a golf ball on it and some of the skin broke, so there a scab. On his right arm he is bandaged up from the middle of his forearm, all the way to his shoulder. He looked pretty tired from the whole thing.

Grandma told me what had happened while I helped fix lunch. They had gotten up around 8:30, and while they were drinking their coffee, Grandma remembered that it was trash day. (They had forgotten last week to set the trash out). Grandpa said that he would go put it out. So he left to go take care of it. After 10 minutes or so, he never came back. Grandma opened the front door and saw that the trash was at the curb, so she thought that he must be in the garage sweeping. (For some reason my grandfather sweeps his garage 2 or 3 times a day). After another 5 to 10 minutes of him not coming inside, so started towards the garage. As she got to the door, he started pounding on it for the otherside. She opened it and he was laying there covered in blood. She tired to help him up (which now she knows that she shouldn’t have because she could have fallen), and then called my cell phone. When she couldn’t get me, she called mom’s office with no luck. Finally she got ahold of a neighbor who came right over. She (the neighbor) got ahold of mom. When mom arrived she called 911, and the firetrucks came and the EMT’s.

Where did all the blood come from? Well grandpa’s skin is so thin, that when he fell, his skin basically tore right down his arm. He was bleeding so much that he soaked through several towels of my grandma’s (which were white).

I’m thankful that he didn’t break anything or that grandma didn’t fall trying to help him up. She has a huge bruise on her arm from where he grabbed her to get up. Her skin is about the same.

Grandma was having problems dealing with the stroke, now she has to worry about him falling. I know its only a matter of playing the waiting game. It’s just important now to spend every moment I can with both of them.

They helped raise me, I spent my summers with them every year when I was in school. Time to cherish my moments.

Inspiration June 19, 2006

Father’s Day. . . A Day where we get to give thanks and praise to the man in our life that raised us as well as husbands that have children. My family had our normal activities for our fathers and grandfathers, it was a nice and lovely day. I enjoyed it. And I know that my father and my grandfather enjoyed it as well.

Earlier this week I recieved another “letter,” as I like to call them. They went with other candidiates. Proud of myself. I only cried for like 15-20 minutes this time. Maybe shorter than that. When I’m crying it seems longer. Clint as always, was a dear. Being my rock again in my struggle to find a job.

Yesterday I realized something. Maybe I’m not supposed to teach around here. Maybe I’m supposed to go else where and teach. I’ve been letting my love of Sylvan, limit my choices of where to go. Yes, I love Sylvan with everything, and I’m thankful every day that I have that atleast, and I’m not stuck in some crappy job.

I registered with USAJobs yesterday. It’s a government run agency that all government jobs are posted on. Found on that is interesting. It’s in Fort Knox, Gifted and Talented Teacher. I’m going to apply. Why not. Just to see.

I’ve also sent out about half a dozen emails to different agencies in the UK for teacher placement. Just asking for information. They terms are Sept. to June. I’m not going to let myself lose sight again.

I’ve got to stay forcused.

As Sigmund Frued said, “When inspiration does not come to me, I go halfway to meet it.”

Time to go halfway with fully opened arms!

Super Fun Campout June 12, 2006

I took some pictures while we were camping this past weekend. We spent alot of time in the lake, so i didn’t take my camera done there, or if I did I left it with Jon (Shannon’s Boyfriend) becuase he didn’t get into the lake. I’ll explain each picture.

This is a picture of our tents that we stayed in. Shannon and Jon’s tent is the huge tent on the left. Our tent is on the right. Notice the size difference in the two. Some of Shannon’s mom’s friends and their families were in the camping spot next too us. Their little girls wanted to know if our tent was for the dog. Seeing as it was quite a bit smaller than the other tent. Our tent may have been smaller, but it was nice and cozy, kinda like our house.

This is Seseame, Shannon’s dog. It was her very first time camping. I believe that she is somewhere around 7 or 8 months. The first night we got there, she was scared of the dark because she hadn’t been there before. So she made these low growling noises all night whenever she heard a noise. On Saturday we took her to the lake, and that was interesting. When she first got in the water, she tried to bite her own feet under the water, and ended up getting a face full of water. She would swim to shore, if Shannon carried her into the water. She also had a cute bright orange life vest to wear when she was on the boat. However, I didn’t get any pictures of that.

We had to hunt for fire wood, every time we wanted to have something to eat. Everyone took turns going on a fire wood hunt. Shannon and I found a huge log that was too big for us to carry back. So Shannon pushed it with her legs back to the camp. We woke the boys up so they could start cooking breakfast. Clint got the fire started, as well as kept it going so that Jon could cook. There’s nothing like having to search for wood before you can eat. Makes you look fast.

. . .

That’s all for now. I’ll post more pictures later!

Slacker. . . Atleast on my blog June 9, 2006

So this week has been full of crazy busy things. Clint and I leave in less than 30 minutes to go camping for the weekend! That will be nice to get away and just have fun. I’m going to try to learn how to ski this weekend. Pictures will be taken and a scrapbook will be made.

Poor Slinky has had a bad week. Earlier this week we found a tick on him. He wasn’t very happy when we had to pull it off, because it was right under his front leg, like right in his little arm pit. It was red for a few days. Yesterday I noticed that he had several bumps on his head. Since we had already pulled a tick off once this week, Clint and I both thought it was ticks again. So we held him got the tweezers, and began to pull at the “ticks.” Well needless to say it ended up with Slinky bleeding a bit on his head. That of course scared us, and we called the vet, because we thought the “tick” was still in him. The vet told us what to watch for and to bring him in first thing this morning. So we took him to the vet, only to find out that the bumps that we thought were ticks were actually scabs on little wounds on his head. That’s when Clint remembered that our neighbor’s cat had been hiding in the bushes in our back yard and when Slinky went over to it, it hit him in the head with his paw. Thus the bumps on his head. Clint thought he got Slinky away before the cat made contact, but he didn’t. What we pulled off yesterday were the scabs from the cat’s claws. Slinky has to take medicine for a week or so just to make sure that it’s not infected. He also got his claws clipped, which he didn’t like, and moved and the vet cut it too far, and he started bleeding.

Slinky is Clint’s baby, so Clint was upset because Slinky was upset, so Clint didn’t work today. He stayed home with Slinky so he wouldn’t be in his kennel. Clint did finish the article for the B&B in Eureka Springs today while here with Slinky.

I’ll post something Sunday (maybe) with pictures from this weekend.

Super Fun Campout. . . Here I come!

Clint and I are going camping this weekend with my friend Shannon and her Fiance Jon, as well as some other friends of Shannon’s. We are both super excited to go camping. We always talk about going camping during the summer, and this time we are. I’ve got to get ahold of Clint’s Brother Robin for the tent, as well as Clint’s sister Kim for a sleeping bag for me. It will be nice to get away from the weekend and do nothing but lay on a beach and tan, and go boating on the lake. I ordered a new bathing suit, and it should be here today sometime. I love buying new swim suit, even though I have like 3 or 4 I like getting new ones each year.

Shannon is coming down today, she went to Mexico a few weekends ago, and has been itching to scrapbook. I as well have some scrapbooks that I can work on, so let the scrapping begin.

Slinky’s new kennel should be here today to. It will be a day of packages arriving. I’m supporting FedEx and UPS.

I’m also trying to make BBQ beef for the first time in my crockpot (also first time being used) so I need to go get it started.

Bored June 4, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — cassiekrause @ 11:57 pm

So I’m sitting here on a Sunday night bored out of my mind. I’ve played Sims 2 for the last two hours or so, hoping that will fill my boredom. Nope didn’t even begin to fill it. Clint just left to go play DnD with our buddy Aaron in Warrensburg. Gaming tonight sounded like fun until I found out how large the group is. I do not like playing in games with large groups. Too many people, no one is paying any attention to the GM, and I get very frustrated.

Normally on a Sunday night I get on the couch with a blanket and watch my shows. However, the seasons are over, I’ve seen every show of the three I watch. So there’s no point in that. There’s lots of things I could be doing, but nothing sounds much like what I want to do.

I’ve been having this problem lately. Not feeling like doing a whole lot, just a little of one certain thing, but I’ve got no one to do the certain thing with. I haven’t left the house today. I did get up and take a shower, as well as cook a really nice dinner for Clint, Aaron, Ethan and Myself. I guess I did do something . . . But now I want to be around people, and hanging out and playing board games or something.

I’m sitting in front of a MASSIVE board game collection and no one to play with. I sound like a 6 year old kid crying to their parents becuase they have NOTHING to do. . .

I need to find something or I’ll go crazy!!!
