Learning the Ups and Downs of Motherhood

Ice Update November 30, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — cassiekrause @ 7:13 pm

The ice tray was outside for a little over 2 hours and the ice cubes were frozen solid. The trays in the freezer were half ice and half water. So Clint won the bet. It’s colder outside. So we stuck the other trays outside seeing as we were almost out of ice.

Still no snow =(

Brrr……. November 30, 2006

It’s really really cold outside! Last night winter finally came around and it hit us pretty hard. The first round was ice. It started getting really crappy outside about the time that Clint and I go home from school. Yes I say Clint and I because he was a sub for the 2nd grade teacher. HEHE I think he learned his lesson with 19 2nd graders.

I was worried because he was supposed to go to Sedalia last night for church practice, but he called Bob and it was canceled, which was nice.

Got a phone call this morning that said school was canceled. No big surprise there. I’ve spent most of the day working on various things on my lab-top. I did run to Wal-greens for a few things before the second way comes in.

According to the weather man, we are supposed to get 16inches of snow. We shall see. Slinky is protesting the cold weather. We refuses to go outside, even with his sweater on. He’s going to give in sooner or later. Last night we took pictures of him curled up in a blanket with his moose!

Here’s a picture:

Last weekend we put up our Christmas Tree. Clint thought it would be better to take pictures of me under the tree, then to help (He did help after he took pictures):

Since it’s really cold outside, Clint and I decided to do a little experiment. We stuck one of our ice-trays outside to see which would freeze the water first, outside or the freezer. So far they are pretty much the same. It’s almost time to check again.

Well time to fix some lunch and wait for the snow!

Camera November 17, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — cassiekrause @ 3:47 am

On Halloween, the school’s yearbook camera was stolen off of my desk. The students in my room and I have had many discussions about the importance of that camera, as well as, it was the only camera that the school had for yearbook. Every day since then, I’ve mentioned the camera at some point, hoping that one day it might return.

When I got to class tonight, I began pulling out my materials from my bag. I was talking to a classmate when my hand (inside the bag) gripped something that I was unsure of what it was. I pulled it out of the bag, and low and behold in my hand sat the school’s digital camera. One of my students must have placed it back inside my bag at some point when I was out of the classroom.

I use this bag every day to carry stuff to and from school. Emptying it out every night when I return home. When I left for school this morning, I placed all my things in it for the day (including my night class because I wouldn’t have time to get it from home.) The camera was not in the bag when I left home this morning. When I got to school, I pulled my school items out and left my night class items in there, and placed it agasint the wall behind my desk.

I’m excited that the camera is back, however, my mind still wonders who actually had the camera. I have my guesses of course, however I can’t prove anything. Maybe tomorrow the person will come forth and tell me they took it. We shall see what tomorrow brings!

Weigh-In Day November 15, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — cassiekrause @ 11:44 pm

I started working out at curves last month. Today was my first weigh in day. Here’s the results:

Bust: -1 inch
Waist: -1 inch
Abdomen: -1 inch
Hips: -1 inch
Thighs: -2 inches/thigh
Arms: -1.5 inches

Weight: -1 lb

Body Fat: -0.20 %

I’m pretty happy with the over all effect. Total of 9.50 inches is pretty good. The girl at curves said your first month is spent building fat into muscle, hence why I only lost 1 pound. I’ve got lots of energy now that I’m working out. As well as being able to say my pants are not as tight as they were a few weeks ago. Still somewhat tight, but slightly loose.

I found a weight loss tracker, so you can follow my progress as well.

Well time to write my data analysis paper for my Assessment Strategies Class.

Being Sick . . . Sucks November 12, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — cassiekrause @ 10:31 pm

So my students must really, really love me. For the last two weeks (basically since Halloween) my class has been battling Pink Eye. I have been lucky. . . or had been lucky until yesterday. I woke up yesterday morning with Pink Eye. Not in just one eye, but both eyes. Double suck. Thank goodness the Wal-greens across the street from us has one of those walk-in clinics. I called to make sure they took my insurance before going over. I had to wait like 30 minutes to an hour.

The final diagnosis? Pink Eye (both eyes), ear infection (right ear), sinus infection, and a swollen tonsil. I guess when my body wants to get sick, it gets sick. I thought I had a really bad cold. So I’m on eye drops (which burn like mad when I put them in), Anti-biotics, and Mucinex-D. I haven’t taken the Anti-biotics because I don’t have a fever. The lady said, “only take these if you develop a fever, otherwise they won’t work.”

I have done absolutely nothing today. It’s 4:30, and I just got the energy to take a long soothing bath. I’ve had the eye drops for 24 hours, so I’m not contagious anymore. I’ll see how I feel tomorrow. Not sure if I’m going to feel up to teaching.
