Learning the Ups and Downs of Motherhood

1 Floor Down December 27, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — cassiekrause @ 6:08 pm

So between last night and this morning, Clint and I have managed to get the main floor completely cleaned. So the kitchen, dining room, 1/2 bath, and living room are cleaned, dusted, and vacuumed.  One down, one to go.  I have a feeling that one will come tomorrow.  I’m to tired now to even think about starting in the bedroom.  Plus I want to move the furniture, and I can’t do that alone.

Aaron stayed with us last night.  So Clint is now in the garage cleaning up the game room, and talking with Aaron.  I’m headed down there as well to work on some laundry.  I really don’t have that much, mostly towels.

Tonight we are headed back to Knob for Clint’s nephew’s 16th birthday. My cookies, hopefully will be eaten.  We shall see. It’s really pretty outside right now.  I guess the calm before the storm. Supposed to get more snow tonight.

2 More months! December 27, 2007

I officially have 2 months to go before the arrival of Dade! With Christmas over with.  It’s time to put some seriously time and effort into Dade’s room.  My crib and dresser are waiting for me at Babies R Us. I just need to find time to go over and get them.

We came home today in a rush to make it to my Doctor’s appointment, however, again it got canceled because of a baby needing to be born.  They said just to wait for my appointment next Friday.  Hopefully that one will not get canceled as well.

I did get a little bit of cleaning done this afternoon.  Now I’m tired, and waiting for dinner.  It’s been snowing for awhile, but it’s not amounting to very much.

I’m watching Season 1 of Ugly Betty.  It’s one of my Christmas presents from Clint.  The BIG GIFT from Clint was a fresh water pearl necklace!  Gorgeous if I do say so myself. I’ll take a picture later and put them up.

Now it’s time to relax for the rest of the night, cuddle up with Slinky, and watch Ugly Betty.

Dr.’s Appointment December 21, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — cassiekrause @ 5:08 pm

My sub was 10 minutes late this morning.  I thought I was going to be late to my OB appointment, so I called to let them know.

“Hi, this is Cassie Krause.  I have an appointment at 10:24 with Dr. Cobbinah, and I’m running a tad behind.”

“Did you say Dr. Cobbinah”

“Yes, yes I did.”

“She just had to leave to go deliver a baby, and we are not sure when she’s going to be back.  Can we reschedule you?”

“Sure.”

Conversation continues with me setting up new appointment.

So what does this mean for me?  Ran home, spent time with Clint.  Grabbed Elf to watch with students, and did a blog.  Now back to school.

Cookie Mania December 16, 2007

What happens when you wake up at 7am on your day off?  (by the way that’s sleeping in an hour).  I’ll tell you what.  You get the urge to bake.  And I don’t mean just a slight urge to bake.  I mean REALLY REALLY bake.  By the time Clint got up at 9am, I had already made a batch of spritz cookies in the shape of a Christmas Tree, and my first pan of Snickerdoodles had come out of the oven.  Anyone that knows my family, knows that around this time of the year, my mom and grandma get “infected” with the baking bug.  Meaning, they make everything from cookies, to peanut butter bon-bons, to fudge.  I usually get the bug, but it dies half way through the first batch.

So, what did I make today?

* Spritz Cookies

* Snickerdoodles

* Sour Cream Cookies

* Chocolate Crackle Cookies

* Chocolate Covered Gummy Bears

I had planned to make chocolate covered pretzels,  however while makings the chocolate covered gummy bears I burnt the chocolate.  I learned that if I’m going to get infected with this cookie bug around the holidays I’m going to need a double boiler.  Maybe it’s because I’m expecting that I am finally getting this holiday bug, who knows.  I’m also going to make another batch of Snickerdoodles, because Clint’s brother LOVES them.  And, I’m going to make some no-bake cookies.  Those won’t take that long, so I’ll do them later this week.

Clint just left to go see I am Legend with the guys.  I really didn’t want to see it, so I am staying home, sitting by the fire, watching House and going to grade some papers.

Christmas Shopping Update: FINISHED!!!

Clint Christmas Shopping Update:  Hasn’t even started (Go figure!)

Oh the wrapping! December 6, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — cassiekrause @ 2:57 am

So I’ve been in a HUGE Christmas mood lately. I started my shopping the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I hid them in my secret hiding place. Put my Christmas tree up the week after Thanksgiving, and then started my wrapping. I’m almost done with my part. Slinky is bought, wrapped, and hid under other presents (seeing as one package contains treats they had to be placed under others) Clint is completely bought and wrapped. Mom is bought and wrapped, as well as Dad. So… Chad and Marci are almost done. Will be done this weekend. Grandma I haven’t even started, but I know what she’s getting. My gift for Clint’s family’s exchange is bought and well… will be wrapped in the next few days. I keep giving Clint a hard time about what he’s getting me for Christmas. He’s been busy with his projects lately, but he’s a good spirit about the whole thing.

We drew names for our gift exchange for our friends, just figuring out what to get my person. I also found out who my secret pal is at school. I’m excited with who I got. Should be fun!!! I ran copies of my Christmas packet for my kiddos today. They were excited about having Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa themed worksheets, even though they are doing work for me. I also got our Holiday party approved by my principal today. We are going to watch The Santa Claus on the last day before break. Going to watch it on a LCD projector in my classroom. The kids of course have to earn the right to be there. I’m not going to let them go if they are not behaving.

Well, I’m getting sleepy. I think I’m going to go take a nice hot bath, and then curl up in bed and watch a movie! Here are some pictures that I took tonight!

I have more pictures on my profile on myspace.  Check them out!

My cousin. . . The TV star December 3, 2007

Well. . . sorta anyway.  He’s the guy that talks about the ladies liking the chocolate.

Click Me

I’ve slept well. . . all day long.  Doctor’s verdict, sinus infection and a double ear infection.  I suck at staying healthy.  I guess it comes with the job of working with the kiddos.  Time to relax some more.

Chilling Out December 1, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — cassiekrause @ 8:43 am

So basically last night I did nothing but lay in the bed and watch movies.  My first plan was to lay on the couch, but for some reason the stupid DVD player wouldn’t play one of the DVDs, so upstairs I went.  I rented movies that I knew that Clint wouldn’t watch with me, since he was play-testing last night, it worked out well.

I was feeling somewhat depressed last night, but after watching HairSpray,  I felt a lot better. My friend Shannon told me that it was a feel good movie, and she was right. I laughed throughout the entire movie.  Nothing is better than Jon Travolta (dressed as a woman) and Christopher Walken (playing Travolta’s husband) singing about oh. . . hairspray.

I followed up with Meet the Robinsons.  However by that point I was rather exhausted, and feel asleep, so I’m watching that again.   I also rented Oceans Thirteen.  All have to be back today before midnight, which is fine.

On today’s schedule: laundry, grading homework, a little Christmas shopping, and oh yeah MU FOOTBALL!!!  Clint’s play-testing again tonight.  This time I’ll be home alone, he’ll be in KC, so I’ll be able to watch the game and yell and scream without bothering anyone.

It’s sleeting outside right now, I wish it would turn to snow.  It is December after all!
